Tsumeb Bible Academy Expansion
The church and school in Tsumeb, Namibia is entering its seventh year. As the attendance on Sunday morning climbs to forty to fifty, the remodeled home they occupy is quickly become inadequate to house students. There is no longer room for all the Academy students to board on site.
Last year John and Jerry D’Alton found a larger facility to meet their needs, but before they could secure funding, the owner rented it out for five years. Disappointed they were determined to move decisively when the next opportunity came available. Recently, they found a partially completed building on a large, well-located lot, which the city of Tsumeb put up for auction.
The auction price turned out to be more than the D’Altons anticipated, but John’s wife (Martie) insisted that they continue to bid, even if it meant mortgaging their own homes. They secured the property for $35,000, but there is still much to do to complete the building.
In addition to the new campus for Tsumeb, the brethren have also decided to help many of the AIDS orphans in that city by turning the original property that housed the church and school into an orphanage. Currently there are about 10 children in the home, but with renovations they will be able to house 20 – 25 children.
The total cost to purchase the land, complete the campus and renovate the original property will be approximately $95,000. African Christian Schools Foundation currently has helped raise $60,000, but we need your help to secure the additional $35,000 to support this growing effort in Namibia.
